Csaba Szegedi has been exhibiting internationally since 1985, with regular solo shows in Hungary and abroad, and participation in numerous group exhibitions across the globe. His artworks are held in prestigious public collections and private homes worldwide—from the USA to China, Finland to New Zealand. Born in Hungary, he developed an unwavering passion for drawing and painting from early childhood. He studied graphics at the High School of Fine and Applied Arts (1974–1978), followed by award-winning studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest (1981–1988). After an exploratory early period seeking his unique visual language, he received a DAAD scholarship and artist residency at the historic Atelierhaus Worpswede in Germany, later settling for a time in Munich. His artistic achievements have since been recognized with numerous prizes, awards, and further residencies at renowned institutions, including the Hungarian Academy in Rome. He currently lives in Velence, Hungary, and serves as a professor at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. For Csaba Szegedi, art is a way to explore reality, to marvel at existence, and to seek the magic of transcendence. His goal is to capture beauty and elevate awareness. Each painting becomes an imprint of a fleeting, transcendent moment made eternal. His positive worldview is expressed through vivid yet refined color harmonies and carefully considered compositions. Trained with discipline yet driven by intuitive creativity, he embraces what he calls “order and adventure.” His abstractions draw inspiration from nature and atmospheric phenomena, sometimes music, combining thoughtful structure with melodic color dynamics. His visual language spans from geometric-constructional to expressive abstraction, often described as impressionistic abstraction. While versatile in numerous graphic and painting techniques, he now works predominantly with acrylics, occasionally with oil. He has developed a distinctive layer-on-layer pentimenti technique to achieve his signature chromatic richness—echoing the depth and complexity of reality itself.
