Impressionist artist, Cathy Jourdan has always had a passion for creating things. Artist and Author, Cathy has always viewed the world with her eyes wide open. Raised a military brat, she has lived and visited all over the world, always enticed by art galleries and local art shows. As an adult, Cathy joined the Air Force. She was most inspired during the six years she lived in Europe. Every opportunity Cathy would drag her family to France (via bus) to the Louvre where she would sit and stare at paintings for hours. This, she says, was probably what moved her the most to begin seriously creating art. At one point, physically, Cathy began fighting a raging war with her immune system. With profound symptoms, there were times when she could not walk or even hold a paint brush, however, she continued painting to distract herself from her pain. In recent years, this autoimmune disease is seriously impacting her vision. Blurred and double vision is almost constant. Working with a large, lighted magnifying glass, she cheerfully feels it simply makes the work more challenging and the results more rewarding. Her style entails extensive layering of multiple colors, rarely mixing colors on a pallet. Her work at times is bold and has almost a primitive feel.
