James Noseworthy

James Noseworthy, son of the renowned artist George Noseworthy, carries forward his family’s artistic legacy. Born into an environment where art was a language spoken fluently at home, James grew up surrounded by creativity and inspiration with his father leaving behind a legacy of vibrant, visionary work that shaped James’s early creative world.

After much time away, James rediscovered a deep connection with his heritage upon returning to the Northeast four years ago. The rugged landscapes, shifting light, and dramatic seascapes of Maine echo the wild beauty of Newfoundland, where his earliest memories of art and nature were shaped. This environment provides not just inspiration but a spiritual connection to his roots, forming the foundation of his current work.

Now based in Maine, James's oil paintings balance his artistic vision with the legacy he inherits. His unique style, which he calls Rhythmic Abstraction, goes beyond traditional landscapes by channeling the underlying energy and flow of nature - layering light, form, and emotion in a visual language that resonates beyond the literal.
