Biography
I studied design in Glasgow and have enjoyed a career in graphics, winning international design awards for my work with Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Celtic Connections as well as Scottish Design Awards. My design work has always been focused on the arts with clients such as Scottish Ballet, Glasgow School of Art, Tramway, Centre for Contemporary Arts, Citizens Theatre, Glasgow Art Fair, Glasgow Jazz Festival and BBC Symphony Orchestra
In 2007 I founded Graphic Art Collective which sought to explore the relationship between graphic design and fine art and exhibited the expressive work of a group of like minded designers and artists.
My passion for the Scottish landscape, originally inspired by my father's love of watercolour painting, has evolved over the years to include photography, painting and 3D digital design.
I paint mainly in oils and I find I work best visiting locations, preferably multiple times, collecting reference images, sketches and memories to take back to the studio. I like to work with a broad style encompassing abstract landscape as well as more detailed realism.
