A Palestinian visual artist from Bethlehem, currently living in Istanbul, who works in painting and photography, and explores the relationships between different genres of art and literature. "I think our perception of one another can tell us a lot about how we see and analyze life. Our aesthetic and spiritual view of people can reveal a lot about ourselves also. For Instance, you may see someone as their literal physical embodiment, you may also however see the same person as a blue or green shadow. These details, for example of the face, maybe a unique composition of colors and lines, their gestures may also expose and reflect their essence. How do I see people? More clearly, when I see a person in front of me do I see the literal image and therefore some real or tangible idea? Physically, is this person just a head and body, are they separated, equal or perhaps more? Therefore, it is imperative that the artist's prerogative is to view the essence of Being purely through the eyes’ gaze. Among the many disciplines I am passionate about, such as; literature, journalism and research history, fine art ranks first. Concerning the latter, painting, drawing, and taking photos represent the real soul food of my life. My artwork represents a unity of feelings, thoughts and experiences, it is emotional experiences mixed with colors, motions and ideas. Although I could not be separated from the issues surrounding me, I do not consider myself artistically committed. I can say that the nature of my human experiences as a Palestinian woman living in the Arab world imposes on me certain issues. My artwork is a mixture of mythical stories that try to explain reality. You see me inclined to surrealism, symbolism and miraculous creatures in an attempt to express my inner self and achieve an integrated picture of what is happening around us on this earth. So it's all about what we see. The aforementioned view is especially pertinent when I state the beginnings of my passion for art".
