Diane Collet

I am an expressionist artist known for ironic and offbeat imagery. An ordered universe gives rise to certain patterns but I am interested in what doesn’t fit into patterns. I look for contrasts in how things appear and what they are in reality. My intention is to express the feelings, undercurrents, instincts, insights and fleeting impressions that we tend to tune out.

My first love is drawing but I also combine acrylic mediums, watercolour, ink, charcoal and digital technology to examine contemporary bewilderment. I see myself as a “whimsical mirror” that reflects the anxieties of our modern age. The effect can be funny, engaging, pathetic, mysterious and somewhat overwhelming, as are most of life’s experiences.
