Arti Shashi

For me art gives liberty to express the observations that are yours, about the world we live in. To enjoy the power of creating a world of your visuals that speak your feelings, perfection has to meet your demands and not the imagined demands of the viewer. This knowledge liberated the craving that I always had, to draw,paint sketch and create.
Women of my childhood aspired but only that what her patriarchs allowed. She had a self image that could be neatly folded and stacked up in case it didn’t get the space to be expressed. Nobody was expected to make place for her, she was uncomplaining, gentle and mild. I loved these women, admired them, was dependant on them, as a child is. I saw them everywhere, in families, society, streets, cinemas and stories. They were the norm. They make up a large part of my observations in my artworks. I wish to associate in my art the warmth I got from them. The latent energy I perceived in them. The subdued fire.
