Jo Kemp, born in West Yorkshire, has spent much of her life immersed in the vibrant cultures of Asia and Europe, weaving these rich experiences into her diverse, dynamic, creative career.
With a background in fashion and jewellery design, alongside extensive training in somatics and movement, Jo moved into professional photography in 2010, bringing a unique, multi-dimensional perspective to her work.
Jo’s fine art photography is emotive, experiential, and vibrant, exploring themes of connection and freedom through the playful and experimental use of color, light, movement, and texture.
In her projects, Jo is drawn to imagery that always leaves room for interpretation—pursuing unpredictable outcomes in her quest to capture the unseen beneath the seen, and the energy that lies beyond form.
Growing up in a small industrial town, she developed a unique narrative eye, honing in on moments that reveal social and cultural truths. Her social documentary work aspires to document life with honesty, sensitivity, and an awareness of the human condition.
