Lili Cabarli was born in Crimea in 1994 and now lives and works in the South of France. She is best known for creating figurative paintings in a realist style.
As an expatriate woman herself, Lili Cabarli explores in her work the questions and tensions faced by women and foreigners. Beauty, the gaze of others, and everyday life are central themes in her practice. The lemon appears as a symbolic presence, representing her own place within the paintings.
She believes that the role of the painter is to communicate a message through visual language, while the viewer’s role is to decode it. She has studied and continues to work with techniques inspired by the Old Masters.
