Statement My creative process is rhizomatic, associative with hints of criptomnesia. I am inspired by my travels, by mother nature and societies’ idiosyncrasies. Sketches and photographies are my physical starting point for paintings and my musical experimentation and tai chi practice dyes the rest of my artistic exploration, like performances and installations. My paintings walk landscapes and timeless places, and bounce between abstraction and representation. My paintings ask and are concerned about the Being in the ontological sense. On a different level, through paradoxes, illusion and perception games, I try to amuse myself, my soul, my senses, my mind. These artworks are a result of questions I set for myself, as a basis on which to stand my visual matrix, and those concerns I carry. Bio Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1989 in a middle class family. His father passed on his interest on manual and techinical work. Federico's interest on social issues is strongly rooted in his father's side of the family. His grandmother was a social assistant and his grandfather a railworker during the peron presidency, his father and brothers had political stands during a time of repression. His uncle being one of the 30,000 missing people would have a strong impact on Federico's worldview. It will eventually mark his choice to study something related to cares of the human being such as art therapy later on. His experience as an art-therapist would lead him to work at the Interzonal Hospital Dr. J. Esteves, a women’s neuropsychiatric institution. He also made art internships providing support to families at risk at the Civil Association Antilco and spent 7 years working with mentally challenged young adults as their art professor. Between 2016 and 2017, he developed art pieces in the french alps and while travelling through Northern Europe. He is now interested in developing his work in residencies such as CIMA Residency, an intervention in the open air in the Catamarca province of Argentina in August, 2018 or the one organized by the Gilfelagid Association, in Akureyri, Iceland where he continued to develop his work in progress “States of Being” during May, 2019. During this same year, Federico spent 6 months developing his series in the Greenhouse Studios, in Neukolln, Berlin and has recently moved to Toulouse, where he has his new home studio, teaches art and offers art-therapy sessions online during the time COVID lasts.
