I started this painting in 2013. I wanted to make a mural in a Pulquería at that time and I made this painting to practice. THen it went thru various changes of colors and it was not until 2020 that I finally was happy with it.
the rabbit is a recurrent animal in my paintings, girl rabbits, conejitas, not so much as a sexy symbol but more as a metaphor for our innocence regarding the fact that we are animals that have a purpose in terms of reproduction and we are not aware of it until is too late. sometimes.
hands pointing down. as opposed to pointing up, to the sky or whatever deity. down to the Earth, which should be our main concern right now, i think.
this is how the agave looks like when the mescaleros in Oaxaca and other parts of Mexico process them to make traditional beverages. They cook this "piña" different ways, but when they smoke it, is really tasty.
