Lucy Gow

I am a Belfast born artist nearing the end of my MA Fine Art at The School of Art, Birmingham City University.
I am drawn to the Landscape, creating a body of work primarily using photographs of places that have a special place in my heart.
One photograph is all it takes to produce many iterations and experiments of a particular place. I really enjoy exploring the scene and developing the image(s) from the internal emotions, memories, and associations with the place.
I do not, or rarely, set out knowing what the outcome is likely to be, and the direction often changes, especially when working on several pieces at once.
The journey whether that be physical, ie a car or boat journey, or the psychological one on canvas is part of the excitement. The mark making, or rubbing out, blending and textural marks or spaces create energetic vibrant pieces with personal resonances.
