RECOGNITION

Dean O’Callaghan is a professional visual artist with over 30 years’ experience. His abstractions have conceptually evolved from his interest in modern and contemporary architecture, and rural landscapes. From the beginning of 2021, his paintings show an intriguing interaction of shape, colour and line that evokes a sense of depth.
In 2022, his work has become less hard-edge and by using various spray and layering techniques, he has developed paintings with smooth tonal and colour transitions. “Although my abstractions are inspired by what I see and experience, I invite the viewer to relate my work to their own thoughts and experiences”.
Dean is a graduate of Curtin University of Technology in Western Australia where he studied fine arts and education. He has lectured at various academic institutions while maintaining a professional studio space and exhibiting frequently in mixed and solo exhibitions.
