Erik Hudson (b. 1983, England) is a contemporary artist whose practice sits at the intersection of street art, abstract expressionism, and modern painting. He graduated in 2004 from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, specializing in sculpture.
Hudson’s work explores themes of decay, resilience, and psychological aftermath, drawing from post-apocalyptic and dystopian narratives. Using spray paint, acrylic, ink, and permanent marker, he constructs layered compositions that evoke weathered urban surfaces, eroded landscapes, and fragmented systems. His marks often suggest traces of human presence—signals, warnings, or remnants—left behind in environments shaped by collapse and adaptation.
Working across diverse surfaces including canvas, wood, cement, stone, and metal, Hudson treats each material as both image and artifact. The physicality of the surfaces reinforces a sense of survival and endurance, as if the works themselves have endured exposure, conflict, or time. Through abstraction and raw gestural language, Hudson’s practice reflects a world in transition—one suspended between destruction and reconstruction.
