Irina Marques

Irina Marques grew up with several influences. She was born in Lisbon in 1982 and at the age of seven she moved to Braga. She resided in Porto for nine years, where she graduated and worked. Since 2020 she live and work in Braga, Portugal.

His references come from studies, curiosities, books, other artists (past and contemporary), travel, music and nature. All experiences embraces a sensitive point of view.

Painting is deeply influenced by themes related to psychology, philosophy, and communication, reflecting the transformations of the self. Psychology impacts art by exploring emotions, perceptions, and the unconscious, while philosophy questions existence, reality, and subjectivity in artistic creation. Communication, in turn, allows painting to become a symbolic means of expression, conveying ideas and feelings. Thus, these elements are interconnected, making art a dynamic representation of both internal and external changes in individuals and society.

With a degree in Visual Arts, History of Art at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and a postgraduate degree in Tourist Information and Heritage by the Polytechnic Institute of Management and Technology in Vila Nova de Gaia, she followed her path through the universe of the arts, participated in for short periods in theater groups, music, photography, among other artistic manifestations, which he studied.

The materials used are mostly acrylic paint and canvas. The artistic style combines abstract, figurative, and patterned elements, creating a unique visual language that blends form, color, and texture.
