Before I start painting, I decide only on form and texture. The rest I leave to intuition and a sense of wonder. I want my emotions, low and high, to spill out onto the canvas and allow the piece to shape itself.
I mostly choose a rough texture yet porous enough to let vibrant colors fight through the fibre, leaving only enough tone to embrace the complexity of the emerging design...mystical and devoid of pure form and lines. Just layers of different pigments to portray a sense of interwoven interdependency.
Even as a child, my mother complained that my coloring-in books looked as if a cat had scratched in them - because I pressed my crayons or pencils so hard trying to get stronger colors, that they broke or tore the pages.
Being an individualist to a great extent, I am actually a good team-player, love to attend high-end- art events and fairs with my friends, or spend a night out together surfing highly artistic Kievan underground creative spaces. But don’t get me wrong, I’m quite content to spend a night just watching a TV series; or painting away until the early hours.
