Through my painting practice, I visualize the invisible energy of life and reveal the essential forces inherent in nature.
I draw inspiration from quiet elements ─ stones, plants, shadows, and water and engage in a careful dialogue with their unseen movements of energy through al my senses. From their presence, I capture emotions, bodily memories, and traces of history and culture that guide each composition. Rather than depicting nature as “the beauty
of living things,” I paint it as a space where life and death, presence and absence coexist.
My practice is rooted in the East Asian concept of Qi Yun Sheng Dong (気韻生動), which seeks to evoke the living energy of nature upon the surface of the painting. I also folow
the approach of Japanese painting (Nihonga), which values both the reality and the decorative quality of the motif. The layered textures of natural mineral pigments (iwa-
enogu) and the tonal rhythms of color mirror the subtle movements of breath and body. This interplay imbues each work with Q ─ the vital energy of life ─ creating a
poetic presence that connects with viewers on physical and emotional levels.
