Born and raised in Dnepropetrovsk in the former Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union. The same hometown where one of the famous Russian-American conceptual artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov were born. At the age of 14, Roman escaped from the Soviet Union to Jerusalem, Israel. Studied medicine and gained diploma. At the same time he joined to Israeli army and served for 9 years.
He was always interested in photography and worked as a photograph for several magazines and companies. At the age of 33 he moved to Venice, Italy and opened his workshop Oi Va Voi Studio and dedicated himself to his passion – art. He invented his own technique – how to metamorphose a digital photo into a Venetian Monotype style prints.
Roman runs his studio already for more than 10 years, gives a masterclass in printing, uses the best materials and works on his creative projects. One of them called Post Libris. According to The Guardian journalist John Brunton Oi Va Voi Studio is one of the best place worth to visit.
