My work is rooted in a deep affinity with the earliest expressions of human creativity. I am drawn to archaic and pre-modern art not only for its formal directness, but for the intelligence embedded within it—the sense that each mark, gesture, and object carried a purpose beyond representation.
I approach art as a process of intention rather than illustration. Each work begins from a focused impulse and unfolds through materials that resist, absorb, or redirect that intention. Acrylics, inks, pigments, ash, spices, and other unconventional substances interact in unpredictable ways, producing surfaces that feel accumulated rather than composed.
The works develop through cycles of layering, erasure, and transformation. Control is repeatedly introduced, disrupted, and re-negotiated. Structure emerges, collapses, and reforms. This tension between direction and surrender is central to the practice, allowing meaning to arise through process rather than being imposed in advance.
Rather than depicting narratives or symbols directly, the works function as condensed fields of experience—objects shaped by time, pressure, and decision. They carry traces of making, revision, and material memory, inviting slow looking and intuitive engagement...
Degree in philosophy; self-taught in the arts through years of intuitive practice, material study, and experimental process.
