ABOUT
EDUCATION

Born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1953, the third girl to a diplomatic father, I spent my early childhood traveling from one country to the other. I Studied Graphic design in Caracas at the Neuman Design Institute and then specialized in graphic techniques ( mention: airbrush) in London. Mostly known as a graphic designer, now I share my time between my graphic work and my paints. Currently living in Costa Rica with my husband Martin Saunders. I believe in nature. In energy. In synergy. In transformation.I try when I paint to forget years of academic learning and let go. I hope that my paintings will touch the subconscious level of people viewing them, prompting a sensation of well being and harmony. If I can achieve that I can believe in me.

I got my degree as a graphic designer from the Neumann Foundation Design Institute ,Caracas, Venezuela, a very modern and quality institute, which now ,unfortunately, no longer exists. After participating in a new young artists collective competition in Caracas, I went to London and studied airbrush and graphic techniques at the Elephant and Castle Design Institute while also perfecting my English.
Once back in Caracas I worked as a freelance designer for many years, handling high level customers, such as, PDVSA (the Venezuelan State oil Co.), Celanese, Mitsubishi and others. In 1989 my family and I moved to Margarita Island, where I continued working in design and also teaching design at the university.
During this period I exhibited sculptors at the United Nations in Washington DC However, I did not begin to paint in ernest until moving to Costa Rica. Since being here I have had a one person exhibition called Gaia's Colours at Nakamichi where I presented 30 large format acrylic paintings accompanied by a Flash film.I have received an invitation from Teatro Sin Fronteras (an arts organization located in Mallorca, Spain) to present a show there this summer.
