Michael Bertoli

Michael Bertoli is a Melbourne-based contemporary abstract artist whose practice explores the relationship between colour, form, movement, and technology.
Working at the intersection of art and digital innovation, Michael Bertoli creates immersive abstract compositions through an intuitive process of layering, transformation, and experimentation. His work draws on the expressive language of Abstract Expressionism while embracing the possibilities of digital media, incorporating bold colour, intricate texture, distortion, and dynamic movement.

Influenced by both natural and digital systems, his practice explores the tension between structure and spontaneity—where precision gives way to chance and controlled composition meets unexpected discovery.
Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, Michael Bertoli’s work invites interpretation. Each composition offers an open visual experience, allowing meaning to emerge through the viewer’s own perception, memory, and emotional response.
