About Born in 1957 in Grevesmühlen, Germany, and based in Mecklenburg, Henry Walinda works primarily with egg tempera on canvas and wood, a traditional medium known for its vibrant color layers and lasting brilliance. The artistic path developed in an unusual way: initial training as a construction machine operator, followed by work as a nurse in psychiatry and intensive care medicine, before a full dedication to painting. These life experiences continue to resonate in the expressive depth of the works. Studies took place with Gero Kuenzel at the University of Leipzig, Institute of Art Pedagogy (1993–1996), supplemented by the Art Station Fulda (2002) and continuous exploration of European masters. Since 2006, the artistic base has been in Lischow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. International influences play a central role: • A teaching residency in India (Benares) inspired new approaches to color and symbolism. • Extensive travels to Japan shaped a strong sense for composition, minimalism, and the dialogue between nature and culture. Inspiration • European masters: James Ensor, Franz Hals, Francis Bacon • Encounters abroad: teaching residency in India, extensive travels to Japan • The landscapes and cultural history of Northern Germany
