Traveling Artist exploring microcosmoses of cultural narratives, mythologies, and microhistory all over the world.
Bianca Tschaikner is an artist, printmaker and storyteller from Austria.
Her books and artworks are inspired by her travels to countries such as India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran, Malta, Italy, Jordan, and Spain, where she likes to immerse herself for extended periods of time in the search of stories, images and atmospheres.
She studied Media Design at the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg in Austria and in Chile, printmaking at the International School of Graphic Arts in Florence, Italy, and at the International Center for Contemporary Printmaking (Fundacion CIEC) in Betanzos, Spain, and has a Master’s degree in illustration from the University of Fine Arts Macerata, Italy.
Besides working as an illustrator for newspapers, magazines and books, she works with ceramics and as a printmaker with etching and monotype – techniques she also uses to produce her artist books.
She also regularly publishes carefully crafted small editions of art books, such as Minisutra, Meghalaya, Lake City and SAVARI – an illustrated journey through Iran and India, also sometimes using handmade printing techniques like screen print.
