Kemal Hayit

Getting lost in the infinity of digital fiction. For Istanbul-based artist/designer Kemal Hayıt, digital is the source of a new, often unexpected creative process that goes beyond design. Although influenced by his amateur interest in photography and his background as a designer, Hayıt's process sometimes uses photographic images to create symphonic collages of color and pattern, stripping away the details of forms. He sees himself as seeking refined works in pursuit of simplicity.
Both forms of creation - design and digital editing - walk an independent path, influencing each other, revealing new depths in the artist's work.
- While digital editing provides speed and clarity, there is an ease of use that emerges as the disciplinary structure of design captures the momentum in this process. Decoding the incoming frequencies for a new expression, a new work of art becomes effortless and exciting. If traditional drawing is like following the trace of light, decoding and shaping it, digital drawing is like getting lost in eternity in time.
