Romina Meriç is a visual artist based in Istanbul, Turkey. Her studio practice is rooted in painting and drawing. She has a multi faceted mode of working - in order to allow personal content and collective, sociological reflection to coexist. In her work, she explores the psychological layers of emotionally charged themes such as healing, trauma, coming of age, liminality and transformation. Her intuitive attitude to image making complements the process bound aspect of her subjects, while unraveling the emotional charge surging through the narrative. She feeds her practice with research on different theories of the self, developmental psychology, and behavioral patterns in contemporary society.
In addition to exhibiting her work locally and internationally, Romina also works as a visual arts educator and councelor for high school students who are preparing to apply for arts and design universities.
