Veronica is a textile artist specialising in weave. With a passion for reusing and recycling waste and a perceptive sense of colour and textural combination, Veronica uses materials such as newspaper, vintage maps and cassette tape to create wall-hangings and panels. These make tactile and beguiling, quietly powerful additions to any interior.
With materiality as a starting point, Veronica gives value and meaning to the apparently worthless and waste materials. Depth and character are created in the weave using structural effects and floating threads. Reacting to the material and its provenance, Veronica exposes its essence through the subtle combination of texture, colour and pattern.
"Weaving is a metaphor. Textiles are a metaphor. Their impermanence reflects the transient nature of remembered events, experiences and emotions."
Veronica studied fashion and textiles at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, The Netherlands, 2000-2004, graduating in 2004.
