Deb Haugen

I have been painting for over 35 years. Living in Malibu, California and in Hawaii has given me such great inspiration. I have the beach on one side, and the trails, creek beds, and mountains on the other side of me. Walking the creek bed inspired my "organic" series. I am interested in the natural and familiar forms I come across and how they relate to abstractions, emotions/ patterns emerge, and reflect off of each other in a dance of supportive familiarity. I love paint. I like to scrub it, scratch it, and reveal in an organic natural sense the spontaneous auto response my intuition brings to the art. After teaching a very technical tool, the airbrush technique to many different types of artists for years, I have now returned to my brushes. I love the hands on self editing, and immediate gratification a rag, or brush can give.
