Andrea Gallo

In my work I play with the narrative possibilities made available by the practice of painting. By the means of representation I sketch stories that does not fully make sense, that don’t necessarily have a logical chain or a plausibility. In my paintings I try to put side by side, overlap and recombine scenes that are part of people’s everyday lives but that come from different times and different places. The characters and the occurrence that I depict come from photographic archives or from journals and magazines. Imagines at the same time anonymous and intimates.The result of this combination is a sort of visual riddle that anyone can resolve and guess, completing the story.

I born and raised in Cosenza (Italy), educated in Architecture at Reggio Calabria University and in Entertainment Design at the “Digital Art Academy” in Florence. After several years of work as a scenic artist for theatrical and audiovisual companies and further experience as a graphic designer I actually work exclusively as a painter.
