"Blue Diamond" Sculpture

My work is about human experiences and ideals that make life meaningful. Emotions, feelings, and thoughts are represented by a dynamic interplay of color and abstract geometric forms. I often aim to express energy and motion. One of my artistic objectives is to create ever more intense artworks that convey emotional power and energy.


The painting process I invented for myself and follow is not the spontaneous burst of creative splash that's usually stereotyped of artists. It is a slower and more refined process. First, I come up with an idea of an image from intuition that is interesting and exciting. Then I go through a process of developing and visualizing the idea using digital blueprints. These digital images evolve over a period of time until they are “ripe” and that's when I start putting them on canvas. The entire process from conception to execution is not continuous and may take a few months.


Creating sculpture naturally emerged as an extension of my painting. Moving from painting to sculpture the intuitive ideas that are at the basis of each piece not only have an additional dimension but also are less abstract and more apparent than my paintings. Importantly, my sculptural works have architectonic quality - a conscious and reverential nod to architecture. Unlike my painting process I do not use blueprints to make sculpture. The idea-to-artwork path is more direct and spontaneous which makes art making more adventurous and often times surprising and risky.
