Born in Cornwall,UK, in 1943, David Hosking studied Art briefly at Falmouth School of Art and then from 1964 to 67 at the West Midlands College where he was awarded a Distinction for his art work. David worked as a teacher in Devon and Cornwall until 1995, when he left teaching to work full time on his painting.David entered Falmouth School of Art in 1961 and later studied at the West Midlands College from where his early abstract work was taken up by the Compendium Gallery in Birmingham. David became a teacher and from the late Sixties until the early nineties he was teaching in schools in Plymouth and Cornwall. During this time David's painting developed through various stages from pure abstract work to figurative landscapes and eventually evolved into the strong, soulful work for which he is widely known today.It was not until the early nineties that David began to exhibit his work regularly but through his solo exhibitions his work has subsequently attracted a wide international following. Hosking paintings can now be found in collections throughout Europe, North and South America, Canada, Africa, Australia, the Far East and Japan.Some ofDavid's paintings are published as prints in Britain and Ame...

During his later years at Helston Grammar School David became inspired as an artist by his Art teacher. The artist continued to develop through Falmouth School of Art and the West Midlands College and though 30 years of teaching. David's reputation as a painter began to become established by his many solo exhibitions at Falmouth Arts Centre from 1994 and then subsequently in many galleries in Cornwall. Some of his work has been exhibited in London and Edinburgh and some has been published as prints in America.,
