RECOGNITION
A painter living in the beautiful wilds of Northern Michigan,Kurtis grew up in the rugged landscape of central Wyoming. As a boy he was encouraged to cultivate his curiosities by looking closely at the natural world. This percipiency continues to inform his practice. The rural mountainous landscape of his youth is much different from the fields of Kansas, but both environments inspire the sense of isolation and attention to atmosphere that are pervasive in his work.
