Nicki Mayne

Nicki Mayne is a figurative painter based on the South Coast of England, working in oil paint. She is drawn to the more expressive side of painting, whilst trying to be truthful to what she sees before her.

"I prefer to paint from life wherever possible, I aim to paint with empathy, and connect with the world around me with compassion. ​Themes that run through my work include the beauty of the human form, the fragility of life and the resilience of the human experience".

Nicki is inspired by her other employment working with vulnerable people and finds the experience often feeds into her artwork. She has been influenced over the years by many painters, including David Bomberg, Lucian Freud, Gwen John, Mary Cassatt and contemporary artists such as Andrew James.

Nicki has a degree in Fine Art Painting from Kingston University and exhibits widely (Royal Academy, Mall Galleries, Worthing Museum, Patchings Art Centre).

She is a winner of The Artist Exhibition Award at the 2025 TALP Open 2025.
