As a child Cynthia was drawn to both art and music. For her, an abstract painting is like music without words and a piece of music has the power to evoke images of colors or a "place." Cynthia favors using collage of found paper and mixed media for creating a variety of textures and effects. She prefers small or miniature scale for a sense of intimacy and preciousness. Her creative process is guided by the material available and the work itself. From start to finish, each work is like a unique journey to a place she could have never known, a place beyond the surface of the work where she seeks joy, wonder, and mystery.
