I am a mixed media artist with a preference for making 3-D work. Themes recur in my art: I use found objects, and may use molds& casting of my small pieces to create new work. I enjoy photography, "straight" and digitally manipulated, and sometimes include my photos in my collage artworks.
Maybe my motto could be "art by any means necessary".
My work is somewhat unusual, and perhaps I walk & work on the Dark Side. However I see hope and beauty everywhere, and hope that is part of even my darkest artworks.

Read a 2021 article about my work at Obsessed with Art here: . Personally I am obsessed with making: after a 20 years working with computers, I turned to art full time. I left the city of Seattle for a cohousing community in idyllic small town Port Townsend.
I have a particular love of sculpture, assembly, & collage: I draw, paint, sculpt, assemble, blog (). I use a wide variety of media: pencil, colored pencil, pastels, watercolor, ink, resin, cement, wood, stone, fabric and more. My original work is often transformed & reused in both physical and digital collage. I use a computer, scanner & archival ink jet printer as tools to modify and create new work. I appreciate the element of surprise, so rarely make detail...
Practice, practice, practice! Art classes often depress me, and one year as a 17 year old art major was absolutely awful: tedious class requirements, no joy, and many many macho male art students making body casts of naked female students! I hated it, and it had nothing, nothing, nothing to do with making art for me!
I never completely stopped drawing, playing with color, and making things in my spare time. Eventually I found art workshops could be fun and helpful. After leaving full time employment for small town Port Townsend, I discovered a small weekly mixed media art session taught/facilitated by a true artist, one who could inspire, encourage, and inform without negative judgement!
I have not exhibited my work much for the past few years: exhibiting is less exciting than it once was. Truth is that it can be downright unpleasant!
I enjoyed opening my studio in 2019: it was a wonderful experience. My studio has plenty of wall space, and room to display my work, so I welcome visitors.
It takes up too much of my time, with not much reward: I don't get much feedback from juried shows, and organizing individual exhibitions is a major enterprise.
I want my work to be seen, so I publish online, and use my time to make new work rather than marketing it. I love to explore new materials and ideas (sculpture currently). I find organizing, framing, and making shows happen painful! It is such a luxury that I don't depend on sales for my daily bread.
I exhibit here on Saatchi Online, on my art blog: http://ptartist.com, and in my own online photo gallery at http://ptstudio314.com
