Lynda Gagnon is a visual artist based in Montreal. She completed a fine arts program and pursued studies in graphic design in British Columbia. She also studied multimedia technologies, English literature, and translation at McGill University. Lynda has led art workshops for children at Faculté Saint-Jean in Edmonton, Alberta. Her works are held in private collections across Canada—including Quebec, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and British Columbia—as well as in the United States (New York, Ohio, Tennessee, California, Mississippi, Arizona, Massachusetts, and Oklahoma) and in Europe (France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Germany).
My art tells human stories: theirs, yours, and mine. It explores the idea that we are shaped, in part, by time and by our lived experiences within a complex, sometimes chaotic, and constantly evolving world. Through my work, I seek to illuminate the ebb and flow of existence, to capture its continual transformations, and to invite viewers to construct their own narratives and interpretations.
In the words of the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man."
My artistic process begins with observing the world around me and drawing inspiration from my memories, photographs, and imagination. Once I have defined the narrative, mood, and emotions I wish to convey, I conceptualize my work through sketches, composition and color studies, and sometimes digital mock-ups. I primarily work in acrylic, using monochromatic or limited palettes and smooth layers to create contemporary artworks, which I refine through subtle adjustments until they are complete.
