Jasper Daniel

I am a Goa-based contemporary artist working primarily in acrylic on paper and canvas. My practice is rooted in ambiguity, fragmentation, and emergence. Rather than beginning with fixed narratives or compositions, I allow paintings to develop intuitively through layering, erasure, reconstruction, and sustained revision.

My work often exists between abstraction and suggestion. Fragments resembling figures, architecture, memory, landscapes, or psychological spaces appear and dissolve within dark, atmospheric surfaces. I am interested in the tension between structure and collapse, control and instinct, presence and disappearance.

Although I have drawn and painted since childhood, my engagement with art became more serious later in life. Since moving to Goa, my practice has evolved significantly through deeper immersion, experimentation, and engagement with the contemporary art community.

For me, painting is less about arriving at certainty and more about staying with uncertainty long enough for something unexpected to emerge.

I have no formal academic training in art. My practice has developed through independent study, sustained experimentation, and continuous engagement with painting and contemporary visual culture.
