Leila Barton

I paint vibrant, saturated colour to convey emotion and spark the senses. I like my paintings to calm the mind and uplift the spirit.

My love of painting began at the age of 11, when I won a set of oils in a national art competition. Although art has always been my biggest passion, I initially studied History of Art and English at the University of Nottingham, and after graduating, worked at Condé Nast Publications, immersed in the visual culture of magazines. At 25, I couldn’t ignore the call of painting anymore, and I applied to art college and commited to art.

I studied Fine Art Painting at Chelsea College of Art, London (BFA), and the Slade School of Fine Art, London (MFA).

My work has featured in Country Life magazine’s ‘My Favourite Painting’, and commissions include a portrait of Dame Zandra Rhodes and paintings for the Jockey Club and Cheltenham Racecourse.

I am also represented by Buckingham Fine Art.

My art licensing is represented by Bridgeman Images. Limited Edition Prints are also available at Bridgeman Images.

I live in London/ Surrey with my husband, three children and dog.
