Sarah Seager

Born 1978 in Gillingham, Kent

My earliest memory of loving to paint was when I was at primary school where we were asked to paint a picture depicting how we were feeling on our first day at school. I painted a huge sun with a smiley face and the headmistress kept my painting for a long time.

These days my artwork is inspired by events or scenes of a
sinister and gothic nature, romanticising taboo and darker subjects in a bid to provoke the
viewer to delve within the subject and experience surreal emotions.

The subject matter of my work ranges from gothic imagery to tarot and the dark arts,
to bright vivid contemporary pieces to portraits and caricatures.

I like to work with acrylics and oils on canvas mainly for the large scale paintings,
whereas I prefer pen and ink for the more illustrative drawings.
