Claire Sweeney

I am at home on the rivers and waterways of the Chesapeake Bay amongst the blue crabs, oysters, herons, and calls of the ospreys. I grew up in the D.C. Area, beyond the Potomac River and the rows of Cherry Blossoms along the Tidal Basin. Creative and artistic, I attended art classes at the National Gallery of Art at a young age, falling in love with artworks by Man Ray and Botticelli. My affection for art continued in college. My school was adjacent to the Inner Harbor with casual paddle boats and aromas of fresh crab cakes. After graduating, I traveled with the Navy to the City By the Sea, Caribbean Isla, and continued on journeys across five continents, photographing and painting mystic waterways, mountains, and faces.

In my artwork, I aim to transform warm memories of distant landscapes, nearby rivers, longing images, and evocative dreams to collectable Art.
