Contact us.Kantfish, the artistic identity of Italian artist and journalist Emanuele Giusto, investigates reality as a perceptual, cultural and technological construction.
Working across photography, digital image, film, web art and installation, his research develops under the conceptual framework More Than Real, an ongoing investigation into the distance between what can be seen, measured or represented and what is actually experienced.
Photography is one of the foundations of his practice, but the image frequently becomes a point of departure rather than a final representation. Through digital processes, conceptual structures and emerging technologies, familiar elements from nature, cities and human environments are transformed into unstable territories where perception itself becomes part of the artwork.
Technology is not treated as a subject in itself, but as one of the systems through which contemporary reality is increasingly produced, filtered and understood.
Kantfish has presented artworks and audiovisual projects internationally in contexts including The Wrong Biennale, Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Madrid Design Festival, the National Gallery of Modern Art in Bangalore and Guinovart Space in Barcelona. His artwork has also been selected for the Obra Abierta International Plastic Arts Prize.
His artworks are held in private collections in Europe, Japan, Australia and the United States.
Alongside his artistic practice, Emanuele Giusto has worked for more than two decades as a journalist, author and filmmaker. His work has appeared in publications including L’Espresso, El País Semanal, The Guardian and Foreign Policy, and he is an author published by Feltrinelli. This background continues to inform his attention to context, narrative and the systems through which reality is constructed.
