Aleksandra de Sa (born 1980) earned her B.Arch in Architecture from Warsaw University of Technology.
She has been practicing art and architecture simultaneously. She lived in Detroit, USA where she has also been an educator. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Oakland Community College teaching design and architectural drafting classes.
As an artist, her intention is to combine minimalistic design, color, texture and to transform them into one simplified and universal piece.
She creates series of layers and uses a minimal color palette for each of her paintings.
She is just as interested in the final piece as she is in the process of creating layers and allowing them to interact with each other. Some layers are solid and thick, some almost transparent and some partially applied allowing the viewer to see what's underneath. Various layers slowly become a meaningful and important element of the painting.
She starts with a rigid concept and as she works, she allows it to evolve and become less intentional and more intuitive over time.
Recently she moved back to Warsaw, Poland where she concentrates mostly on her artistic career.
