RECOGNITION
Maureen Lopez is a Filipino contemporary and abstract artist whose work explores symbolism, color, and emotion. Through expressive forms and vibrant compositions, she uses art as a way to freely express herself and connect with others.
With a degree in Psychology and a professional background in Human Resources, Maureen began painting in 2013 and has continued to develop her artistic practice ever since. Alongside her professional career, she has been actively involved with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the Philippines, supporting initiatives that promote education, peace, and environmental awareness.
In 2014, she founded The Bookmark Project, a community art initiative that ran until 2022 and brought art to children across the Philippines. Through the project, children were encouraged to “paint their dreams” on bookmarks, fostering creativity, hope, and self-expression.
Now based and creating in Japan, Maureen continues to develop her artistic practice and has begun participating in local and international group exhibitions. She approaches each opportunity as part of her ongoing growth as an artist, guided by the belief that “art lives within us — it evolves, it rests, and it reignites.”
