Courtney Allen is an American artist that began young, at the age of nine, with his father who taught him skills in furniture making, carpentry, board drafting, cooper sweating, and welding. Currently Courtney shows in southern art festivals, and by nature these have inspired him to diversify further into painted canvases. He has worked in a variety of disciplines, using many mediums to express his artistic language. He excels as a multifaceted artisan in his own right, practicing the lost craft of mechanical pencil drafting, also mechanical engineering, industrial systems design, technical carpentry, furniture making, fine wood finishing, and ceramic tile. As well, Allen is a well-read fiction author of published novels with over four hundred accredited reviews averaging 4.4 out of 5 on the Goodreads Scale. His presented abstract creations here are visions in the mind’s eye. They evoke a tranquil quality through mellow paint colors, soft shades and shapes, comprising a technique which sets the tone for mood, pallet layout and décor. His compositions are expressed in simplistic form, relying on the practice of what is minimally necessary to convey aesthetic balance for a settling, approachable ambience. As a distinctive characteristic, his art explores imagery of contrast and congruity, barriers and opposing spaces, curvatures and fine lines that delineate rich substance and texture. In summary, to Mr. Allen, art and creative constructs are the process of relaxation and a genre of mental yoga which compel a counter-reaction to the stresses in everyday life.
