I am a French artist, who works on disappearance and memory. For my photographs, I use a specific process, lightpainting, which literally allows me to paint with light, thus highlighting the materials.
My broken toys are created using second hand toys, abandoned, gifted or bought from flea markets or charity shops. I have transformed them with fire, heat and other processes.
What fascinate me in these burnt dolls is the detail of the matter, the carbonise plastic and all modifications created by the action of heat. Deep blacks, wrinkles, cracks, burn caramel faces and shrunk artificial hair. The bodies hollowing out, distorted under the intensity of the flame.
These dolls undergo a metamorphosis through fire and other destructive actions which transport them from the child to the adult word.
Studies in France graduate from the CERIS (Centre d'études d'images et de sons)
My art work has been shown in France and abroad in many others museums... at Georges Pompidou Center, at Palais de Tokyo, at Grand Palais (Paris), at The Salon d'Automne, at the Video library Jonas Mekas (New york, USA) , at The Villa Kujuyama (equivalent of The Villa Médici) (Kyoto, Japan), at National Museum center of art, Reina Sofia ( Madrid, Spain) , at Goethe-Institut (Montréal, Canada), at Modern Art Museum of Arnhem (Holland).
