James Budden, b1973, is a figurative artist working in Dorset, England. After 10 years as a commercial artist, he transitioned to working as a portrait artist by day and a musician by night. Since moving to a new studio in 2017, he has been exploring plein air painting, and producing 'live' paintings of musical performances, leading to a series of residences. His latest projects include a collaboration based on landscape and skies, and 'Anima', a deep dive into questions of identity and inherited visual language.
