I practice a form of urban alchemy, transforming the gritty, brutalist architecture of Birmingham into vibrant, surreal botanical landscapes.

My work is created for those who love the pulse of the city vibe balanced with the calming "hum" of green spaces.

Using sharp black-and-white photography of iconic landmarks like the Rotunda and the Bullring, I layer these concrete structures with delicate botanicals and digital surrealism.

My art is a joyful rebellion against the "grey city" stereotype, inviting viewers to slow down and find hidden magic in everyday spaces.

Symbolism & Influence

Much like the master painters, my compositions are encoded with personal storytelling and hidden visual puns:

• The Botanicals: Inspired by the 18th-century paper mosaics of Mary Delany, I use flora as a language. For instance, my frequent use of Parma Violets is a deliberate visual pun on my family name (Palmer), while evoking a sweet wave of 70s and 80s childhood nostalgia.

• The Wildlife: The recurring hummingbird serves as a vivid emblem of my Jamaican heritage, injecting tropical energy and motion into static, grey cityscapes.

• Light & Atmosphere: Influenced by Claude Monet’s Impressionism, I capture the fleeting shifts ...

With a background deeply rooted in textile architecture and formal fine art, my practice focuses on the intersection of texture, form, and precision.
