Self-taught, Kim Jespersen enjoys the process of creating new forms. At first, she had a hard time describing them. What were they? Kim's solution was to create a new word, Partaforms, to define the odd bits and pieces she finds and then re-imagines in her workshops in Round Pond, Maine and Seillans, France.
Kim perceives how things could be and asks, why not? But she is constantly inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell, Alberto Giacometti, Gerard Cambon, Sophie Rocco, Max Ernst, and many others including Maine's own Alan Magee. She might begin with an arm, a leg, eyes, or a face. The rest just happens.
Self-taught.
