Born in the South of Ukraine, Arkadii Martyniuk is a 25-year-old East European artist whose work captures the raw essence of post-Soviet life. Raised in a society shaped by the remnants of the Soviet era, Arkadii's formative years were steeped in the unique atmosphere of Eastern Europe during a period of transition and change. In 2015, he moved to Poland, where he continues to create and draw inspiration from his heritage. A graduate of the High School of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Arkadii is currently finishing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His artistic practice is deeply connected to his background, and his works reflect the distinctive vibe and energy of Eastern Europe. With a focus on capturing the simple yet profound lives of everyday people, Arkadii’s art is a tribute to the resilience, simplicity, and humanity of the region. His choice of medium — primarily sketches and drawings on paper — allows him to distill the complexity of his subjects into intimate, powerful depictions. His work often speaks to the quiet beauty and untold stories of post-Soviet Eastern Europe, evoking a sense of nostalgia, identity, and pride. As an artist, Arkadii is committed to showcasing the spirit of Eastern Europe and bringing attention to the often overlooked lives of its people. Through his art, he invites viewers to witness the simplicity of life, the people who lived it, and the lasting influence of a region in transition.
