This piece reimagines a quiet, iconic moment from a classic animated film, where a dove lands on the prince’s hand and the bird shyly looks up. Harrison Jeong is a California-based artist working in mixed media with a focus on texture, history, and memory. His paintings draw from ancient mosaics, fresco fragments, and archeological surfaces, exploring how cultures build upon—and erase—those before them. Using layered stucco, sanding, and pigment, he aims to create paintings that feel uncovered rather than newly made. His work reflects his ongoing interest in humanity’s repeating patterns and how art becomes the thread that connects one era to the next. Harrison’s process blends traditional painting with techniques inspired by excavation, aging, and natural decay—creating surfaces that resemble relics, artifacts, and timeworn architectural motifs. Many works feature patterns seen in Roman mosaics, Near Eastern decorative borders, early Mediterranean wall paintings, and other remnants of ancient civilizations. By merging classical visual language with contemporary composition, his pieces sit between contemporary art, historical mosaic-inspired art, and textured fresco-style painting. Harrison continues to explore how memory, symbolism, and shared human history can be reflected through surface, material, and intentional aging.
