"Midnight" Painting

I am a Colombian self-taught acrylic painter whose work is deeply influenced by the 19th-century Impressionists and their masterful use of colour to convey emotion. I have always been fascinated by the way colour can speak without words—how it can hold movement, mood, and feeling all at once. This fascination sits at the heart of my practice.



Painting is a deeply personal and liberating act for me. It frees my mind, quiets the noise of the world around me, and offers a safe space where I can fully be myself. As a mother of two boys and a teacher for many years, my life has been filled with structure, responsibility, and constant motion. Art is where I allow myself to slow down, let go, and simply feel.



I primarily work with acrylics using a palette knife, a technique that mirrors my need for freedom and spontaneity. The physicality of the knife allows me to work intuitively, building texture and movement through bold, expressive layers. This process feels unrestricted and honest, giving my work a sense of energy and emotional depth.



Although teaching has been a significant part of my life, my passion for art has always been present. Choosing to dedicate myself more fully to painting has been an act of self-permission—allowing myself to do what I love and to grow as an artist without fear or limitation. Through my work, I invite viewers to connect with colour on an emotional level and to find their own moments of stillness, freedom, and reflection.
